Course Overview

Number of Units: 13

Location: Online

Hours: 58

This is an introductory course in pathophysiology designed specifically with the student of  Homeopathy in mind. The course will focus on the most commonly occurring pathologies that  the Homeopath may encounter. The course is not intended to be all encompassing.

Unlike medical pathophysiology, the role of suppression will be taken into consideration, as it  relates to the evolution of pathology through the various germ layers and organs (from less  important to more important). This further relates to Hering’s law as to how disease progresses  and in cure how phenomenon express in reverse order.

Reference will be made to rubrics and related remedies. While this is not an in-depth course in  materia medica and therapeutics, the student should acquire some of the basic skills and  knowledge to develop their own therapeutic materia medica.

Included along with the pre-recorded units of this course are live Q&A sessions scheduled  throughout each school year to give students an opportunity to engage in deeper discussions with  John about the material they are learning. Students are required to attend a minimum of 2 live  sessions, or if a student is not able to attend any live sessions while enrolled in a course, we ask  that they submit questions for at least 2 sessions in lieu of live attendance. Students may attend  as many of these live sessions as they would like once they are enrolled in the course.

Additional support for this course is provided via the College office staff. Students can email  info@homeopathycanada.com or phone the College office at 416.966.2350 // 1-800-572-6001  and connect with college staff during regular business hours (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm  EST).

Learning Outcomes

This pathology course equips learners with a comprehensive set of skills essential for professional and personal growth in the field. Participants will demonstrate a nuanced understanding of patho-physiological processes across various diseases. They will proficiently define medical terms, interpret abnormal laboratory values, and recognize red flags for referral in life-threatening situations. Through this course, learners will emerge with a robust understanding of disease processes, symptom identification, and the critical ability to interpret diagnostic data for effective patient care and management.

Competencies

2.10 Identify exciting causes and maintaining causes.

2.14 Demonstrate a basic understanding of laboratory data reports as it relates to case analysis  and management (e.g., blood analysis, urinalysis).

2.17 Recognize the signs and symptoms of potentially serious or life-threatening conditions to  determine whether referral to other health‐care professionals or agencies is required. (S) 2.18 Identify disease processes and their Manifestations to recognize a conventional diagnosis  and understand its implication for the purpose of homeopathic assessment, prognosis, treatment  and potential referral.
