Why Homeopathy?
I don’t have a lot of faith in our health care system. I’ve always enjoyed learning about alternative and holistic medicines in order to help others and myself to reach and maintain robust health. It wasn’t until I came across homeopathy that I finally found what I was looking for.
I first discovered Homeopathy back in 2005 while attending a first aid course and my partner for the CPR lesson was a homeopath. On a break she proceeded to tell me all about this amazing healing medicine. At the time I was experiencing some health issues so I thought I would give this method a try. I absolutely loved it! What's funny is that even though I wasn't healed by the homeopath I understood the concept enough to know that if she had prescribed a different remedy or a better diet plan I would've had a more positive outcome. Time passed and I soon forgot all about homeopathy.
It wasn't until I became a member of the Weston A. Price Foundation and received their quarterly magazine that I rediscovered homeopathy. Joette Calabrese is a homeopath that contributes an article in every magazine. "We are the healers of our families!" She would say. "No one knows their children better than their mother's and it's our responsibility to heal them." That statement resonated with me and I decided right then that I would begin studying this amazing science.
'Passion for health' is an understatement. I am very serious when it comes to the health of my family and my animals. I feel blessed to have this knowledge in raising my children so that I won't make the same mistakes my parents did. I was brought up with microwaves, skim milk powder, margarine and low fat everything. Plus, my father was a doctor so when we were sick we were well equipped to deal with every little 'symptom'.
While saving up for this school I have been reading every homeopathic book I can get my hands on and study as often as my little boy will let me. I’ve taken a year long course with Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) entitled ‘How to Raise a Drug Free Family’ which focused mainly on acute illness. I then took four more courses, which focused more on chronic diseases using the Banerji Protocols as well as classical homeopathy. I never stop learning.
Homeopathy is a major part of my life- I don’t use anything else. When I was pregnant my father asked what I was going to do for analgesics and I said “Arnica”.
What about prenatal vitamins? “I have a cell salt regime”.
What about when your child has a high fever? “If I decide to help it resolve faster I’ve got Belladonna”.
And naturally the list goes on.
Almost every day I am using homeopathy, there is just such a need for a medicine that is gentle and works! I apply what I’ve learned to help my friends and family and I want to be able to do so with greater confidence. I want to reach more people and help keep homeopathy alive. I believe CCHM will help me to do this.
