An Update to My Life Abroad

From Monica Frohmann, DSHomMed, RHom. Distance Education Supervisor and Visiting Lecturer (currently in Austria)

An update to my life abroad:  After much research and many roadblocks, I am finally opening my own clinic.  When I first moved here, I was led to believe that I would be allowed to work under an MD who would then “approve” my prescription.  Later, I was told that wouldn’t be allowed, but if I could find a doctor who would see my patient for a few minutes at the end of every appointment, to ensure they wouldn’t be at risk of death within 3 days of my appointment, I could practice that way. (I am not exaggerating!)   Most recently it was found that that would also not be allowed and that I would simply not be allowed to practice homeopathy without being an MD.  Not to be deterred, I am opening my own clinic, practicing primarily craniosacral therapy.  All along I have been treating patients with this wonderful and gentle method of healing, but for those of you who know me, I can’t go without homeopathy.  I now have enough patients to support the opening of a clinic, and have plans to always mention that I am a homeopath.  For those patients who I think need it, (most), I will recommend that they see me for additional “energetic healing”.  I will then prescribe a remedy, and simply call it an “energetic essence”, which in fact, is what it is.

Meanwhile, I will continue to work on my ability to practice more openly.  So far my success in that area has been to get a position working as a teacher for the “Ärtzegesellschaft für Klassische Homöopathie”.  This is the Medical Association for Classical Homeopathy and the main educator of doctors who choose to obtain the homeopathic certification.  At the moment, I’m only allowed to teach the “harmless” subjects like history and philosophy, however it is a foot in the door and I’ll be working together with 16 medical doctors who also teach there.  If you’re interested in having a look, here is the link: http://www.aekh.at/ausbildung/referenten/

As always, I continue to supervise the distance education students at CCHM and I maintain my Ontario registration with the CHO.  I am also fortunate to have the opportunity to return to CCHM once or twice a year to teach in person.  In addition, I am continuing to write a course in homeopathy for a distance educator in Germany and studying for a Naturopathic degree in Germany so that if all else fails, I will be able to practice homeopathy in Germany in the future.  Of course, I continue to treat patients, far and wide, over all the various internet platforms available.  You can take the girl out of homeopathy, but you can’t take the homeopathy out of the girl!!
