“Tomorrow will depend on the steps we take today.’

From Marianna V., Mountlake Terrace, WA.

I was first introduced to homeopathy at the EarthWalk School of Energy Medicine back in 2006. Since then, I have been in love with it. At the time, EarthWalk offered various introductory classes with the purpose of giving the students some basic understanding of how healing may work through different avenues. That was the time when I took my first class in basic homeopathy. I remember going through some challenging personal issues one day, and my instructor offered me to try a remedy. That remedy changed my day because I started feeling much better right away, and it changed my life because I found a new life-long passion: homeopathy.

Over a decade ago then, as a mother with two small children I really appreciated how quick and easy homeopathy was when I needed to help my kids at home. Through the years while my kids were growing up, homeopathic remedies were the primary source of medicine in our home. From emotional issues to simple colds and tummy aches, it had been the go-to thing in our medicine cabinet. Now that my children are grown, they still use homeopathy on their own, which I am very happy about. Gradually, I became more comfortable suggesting remedies to my other family members and close friends. And of course, I used homeopathy for my own self-care.

In my personal healing journey, using homeopathy for self-care at home was not enough. I reached out to several professional homeopaths for help. That included a clinic at Bastyr University in the Seattle area that is famous for its naturopathic program which teaches homeopathy as elective courses. I attended several sessions at their homeopathic teaching clinic as a patient, and then I was referred to a professional homeopath to continue with my case. It was very helpful and alleviated a lot of my symptoms, as I reflect back on those times. However, it seemed that the remedy I was first prescribed didn’t quite match since later my progress plateaued. A different homoeopathic doctor saw me, and gave me another prescription, which worked as magic! It resolved my long-term issues within weeks, and I am still taking that remedy on an as-needed basis.

By then I was becoming more and more fascinated with homeopathy, and took a course on homeopathic home first aid. There I got to know many people in our local homeopathic community. The home first aid course was offered by Seattle School of Homeopathy, which had unfortunately closed since then. That was about three years ago. As I looked at other school options, I was sad to see that several other homeopathic schools around me were closing as well. Since then, I have been looking for opportunities to learn more about homeopathy and healing in general, because I always had a passion for the healing arts and saw the increasing need for it in our community locally and around the world.

I also had a part-time energy healing practice over the years, and was very happy to apply my knowledge and skills to help clients on their journey to better health. Although I could not use homeopathy in my practice because I was not a homeopath, I used Reiki and Qigong, sound healing and color healing, subtle aromatherapy, and other forms of natural healing arts that I had learned over the years. There were many times when my clients could have benefited from a homeopathic remedy prescription, and I could have helped them better if I were able to practice homeopathy.

As I look around, today’s world is rapidly changing. We live in challenging and exciting times when opportunities for healing abound. If there were ever a time for me to learn homeopathy professionally, the time is now. As I look ahead, I see uncertainty. But that is not a bad thing. Uncertainty means that nothing is fixed, and anything is possible. Even such things as global healing and peace. Tomorrow will depend on the steps we take today. I hope that in a few years I will be able to practice homeopathy, helping my clients, friends, and family even more on their journey toward healing.
