The Silent Role of Homeopathy in Cancer Care
Cancer is a word that sparks fear in the minds of most. Living with Cancer can be one of the most challenging battles a person will experience in life.
Modern science has made great progress in the battle against cancer but the treatment side effects can be difficult for patients to live with. Enter Homeopathic medicine, which can be used to decrease side effects and improve quality of life.
Homeopaths do not consider an illness/symptoms to be separate from the person, we consider the illness to be a part of the entire state of the person and treat the entire body, not just the illness/symptoms. Homeopathy targets the entire body to heal. Many patients seek my services when they are unable to manage side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, weight loss, fatigue, pain or depression.
Homeopathy has been found to have no drug interactions so it is safe to use pre, during or post cancer treatment. Homeopathic remedies are individualized and tailored specifically to each patient and prescribed after intensive research that can take up to weeks.
This article puts forth no claims to treat or cure Cancer. Instead a case is given on how Homeopathy helped a patient with the side effects of her cancer treatment.
An 82, year old woman of Caribbean descent diagnosed with stage 3 Multiple Myeloma cancer, on chemotherapy experienced side effects; diarrhea, fatigue and back pain leading to a poor quality of life. When given a Homeopathic remedy named Mangifera Indica, she experienced a decrease in diarrhea, increase in energy and disappearance of back pain. This gave her motivation to finish her chemotherapy cycle and the will to continue her “fight.” Homeopathy worked alongside her chemo to help decrease the side effects.
Homeopathy is so well trusted that 300 million patients in over 80 nations use it, arguably the fastest-growing system of medicine in the world and it is now a regulated health profession in Ontario and classified by Health Canada. (Karen Wehrstein, National Post 01/13)
