Law of nature

From Harpreet B., Brampton

There is a law in nature which states that “like attracts like.” This very law underlies my desire to study homeopathy. The desire itself grew and developed after I studied the innovative work ofSamuel Hahnemann. Thereafter, I pored over the books of Dr. Kent and subsequently started watching videos and lectures of some well- renowned homeopaths such as Dr. Rajan Sankaran and noted one critical similarity: they possessed a clinical record and a history of high success rates as homeopaths, especially where the treatment of chronic diseases (such as cancer) was concerned. Moreover, their treatment involved natural methods without any side effects. This encouraged me to learn the art of homeopathy on my own.

The art of homeopathy is a wonder to behold. It boasts over four thousand remedies available that can treat almost any illness today, even those that were once thought to be impossible to cure. It is fascinating to note that the remedies are so gentle and long lasting on patients as a whole, yet their production costs are modest. These factors greatly contributed to the passion I have for homeopathy and my drive to excel in this art. It provides safer, more natural methods that can help me save lives and contribute to my goal of creating a healthier society.

My passion for homeopathy does not just include academic and humanitarian reasons, however. I went through a personal experience that helped shape my chosen career path. There was once a time when I suffered from severe pain in my right eye from the side effects of an eye surgery. My eye doctor prescribed me steroid eye drops for the rest of my life, which just did not feel like a proper permanent cure to me. Moreover, I had also been suffering from social phobia for the past five to six years. I tried cognitive behavioral therapy but it did not work. My family doctor also prescribed some medications for me yet they affected my spine and caused scoliosis after I took them for a week. This left me with constant pain in my back, neck and shoulders. My anxiety and loss of confidence worsened after I saw my abnormal posture in an X-ray report. I lost all faith in allopathy after that. It was my grandfather who recommended homeopath to me. The interesting thing is that I had previously heard that homeopathy works really slowly. However, that was not the case for me. In fact, I started to feel the difference after only a single dose. My eye pain disappeared in a day, my phobia started to fade away and I could also feel my spine getting stronger without any surgery or therapy.

Since that day, I have dedicated my life to the research and study of homeopathy through the internet, books and various other media sources. The more I learned about it, the more I fell in love with it. My own successful experience with homeopathic remedies led me to believe that they are far from being mere placebos—they are really powerful healing agents. All the credit goes to Dr. Samuel Hahnemann who invested most of his life in the study and experimentation of homeopathy for the sake of people’s well-being, despite the unrest he experienced in his own life. He spent countless hours doing hard work such as seeking empirical evidence, studying and recording the effects of the remedies on himself and his colleagues and more. His work is a priceless contribution to the health profession and is a lifesaver for millions of people around the globe, including future generations to come. His creativity, passion, patience and determination inspires me to this day.

Dr. Hahnemann furnished the health care profession with empirical proof of over ninety different homeopathic remedies. Thanks to his efforts, there are now more than four thousand known natural remedies available today that can cure almost any disease. Besides being inexpensive to produce, they are also eco-friendly and therefore sustainable. One of the best things about homeopathic remedies, however, is the gentleness with which they treat patients. This is why they are considered safe for infants. They have also been a primary choice among pregnant women for two hundred years.  Made from minute amounts of plants, minerals or animal substances, they are non-toxic and non-addictive, yet very effective. Where allopathy is used mainly to suppress the symptoms of the disease, which later gives birth to other diseases, homeopaths focus on treating patient as a whole by using all the patient’s symptoms – the mental, physical and emotional state as a guide to finding one exclusive remedy. Once the correct remedy is found, the effects can sometimes be instant, and often long lasting, which is why I believe homeopathy is the best medicine to be ever discovered.

Critics may argue that homeopathy lacks biological plausibility. Nevertheless, I believe that homeopathy is  one of the most underestimated and misunderstood types of medicine available. I also know that homeopathy is one of many medical options that use safe, effective and holistic methods to help heal patients. This has its basis in its history: today, the general public is looking at a two-century long clinical record of high success rates in treating deadly diseases - both acute and chronic – via natural methods and a stark contrast between its gentle nature and the risks involved in allopathic medicine with its side effects. From Harpreet B., Brampton
