I reached the decision to become a homeopath by accident. It was not where I expected to end up. It was through a series of encounters with homeopathy over a 20 year period, each building upon the other. To the point I could not escape, or deny, what I was facing. I had to pursue what was standing before me. Finding homeopathy turned my world upside down.
You see, I was a nursing student. I was sold on the medical model. But I was a sick nursing student. I had spent years treating allergies, then eczema, then asthma, then migraines, to the point where I had hardly any ability to fight off an infection of any kind without the help of black box label antibiotics. All off which was slowly killing me. I knew I was in trouble. In the end I had to drop out of nursing school, in part for the dramatic deterioration of my health. That was the beginning of my journey.
Shortly after leaving nursing school I became pregnant with my second child. It was a very difficult pregnancy. I had gestational diabetes and the genetic test was positive for a genetic abnormality. A dear friend of mine was a nutritionist and I started seeing her for the diabetes. The strictest diet could not keep my blood sugars within range and as a last resort she consulted with a colleague that suggested a gemmotherapy remedy. Within 2 weeks of starting the remedy my blood sugars were normal.
To say I was surprised was an understatement. I had never encountered something like this in my life. I immediately started researching what this remedy was. When I read that it was a type of homeopathic remedy it was as if my past was unlocked and every encounter with homeopathy I ever had came to the forefront.
I lived in Europe for a time and I had a similar experience with homeopathy there for seasonal allergies. One that I had almost forgot. I also had a similar experience with homeopathy when working for a surgeon years ago. I remembered being completely enamored and intrigued with the results patients were getting from Arnica post surgery. But upon questioning the surgeon about it, he responded that he wasn’t really familiar with it. I remember thinking “how can this be?”.
Well, soon I gave birth to my son. He was born with a number of health challenges and I was getting nowhere with doctors. Out of desperation I contacted a homeopath in my area because of all that I had experienced and remembered about homeopathy. She was able to give me hope for what medicine had no answer for. Not just for my newborn son, but for me, and the rest of our family. We all are now treated with classical homeopathy.
As soon as I started to connect all the dots of my past and current experiences with homeopathy, I knew this was the path for me. Somehow, some way I had to learn as much as I could about this to share with others. It is my desire to help others finish well in this life. To offer hope for those who feel their situation is hopeless.
