Parents who choose to educate their children at home are often very conscious of what method of medicine to give their children as well. For those that prefer to avoid prescription drugs, alternative and natural medicine has become a popular approach. People are increasingly heading to local health food stores and dispensaries to purchase their choice of remedies and formulas rather than going to the pharmacy.
It is the public’s right, especially that of parents to choose which is best for their children’s well-being. One gentle method of treating children is homeopathy. Not only does it improve the children’s immune system by stimulating the body’s own defence mechanism, homeopathic remedies do not have side effects and are cost effective, just to name a few of many benefits.
TEETHING
This phase of an infant’s life can be quite annoying and sometimes painful. If you have a little one going through teething, here are a few homeopathic remedies that can help.
Chamomilla is the go-to remedy for teething children. Symptoms and sensations to look for that indicate this remedy include: inflamed gums, child screams with pain and is irritable, child is demanding and may throw angry fits. Child is calm when being carried.
Ignatia: indicated if child is distressed by the pain, sobbing but not irritable. Trembling, single parts of the body may quiver or jerk. The child wakes from sleep with piercing cries.
Kreosote: indicated if child suffers from painful dentition. Gums severely inflamed and red; appear spongy.
Give indicated remedy in 30ch potency and up to 3 times per day, repeating the medicine only when symptoms return.
For severe cases or if symptoms persist, please always contact your primary care giver.
