My interest in the field of Homeopathy is one that has grown through personal experience and academic exploration. These combined factors have led me to the decision to pursue a degree in Homeopathy from Canadian College of Homeopathic Medicine (CCHM). Based on my previous training and experience, current interests, and professional goals for the future, I am convinced that this is the right choice for me.
My first experience with Homeopathy came about six years ago when I took my then four-year-old son to see a Naturopath to help with behavioral and emotional issues. After our intake, I remember the doctor telling me she thought my son would be a great candidate for homeopathy. At that point, I had never heard of homeopathy, but was open to trying and seeing if it could help. After an initial aggravation to the remedy, I saw a child that I had never witnessed before. My son was calm, lucid, easy to manage, a child we were hoping to find. I was fascinated by what we were experiencing and asked my Naturopath to write down how and where I could learn more about Homeopathy. It was then and there I said I needed to go to school one day and learn to become a Homeopath.
Unfortunately, the Naturopath we were seeing at the time left the practice and that was the end of our homeopathic journey to that point. We began seeing another doctor in the practice who performed tests and prescribed supplements, and although these helped to some degree, my son’s overall health and behavior kept declining. The entire time I always felt an intuitive feeling that my son could be healed through homeopathy, I just needed to figure out where to go for help. It wasn’t until January of 2019 that I found an amazing Naturopath who performed Homeopathy on children with similar symptoms as my son. The transformation in his overall health over the past year has been nothing short of astounding. Homeopathy is treating the susceptibility and is healing my son like no other form of medicine has. I truly know my son will one day soon be recovered through homeopathy.
Once homeopathy was able to get my son to a better place, I started seeing the doctor to help me deal with my failing health from the chronic stress I had endured over the years caring for my son. I was losing clumps of hair, suffered from chronic fatigue, insomnia, panic attacks, anxiety, amenorrhea, to name a few. Over the past eight months of being treated with different remedies, I am happy to say that I am recovered from almost all of these symptoms. Homeopathy was the only form of medicine that has given me my health back.
In terms of my specific future career goals, my ultimate aspiration is to work in my own practice as a Homeopathic provider. Certainly, I realize that there may be other positions that I will have to work in along the way to my ultimate goal. I would welcome the opportunity to work in a team environment, perhaps under the tutelage of an experienced mentor. After gaining the necessary training and experience, however, my goal will be to establish my own practice. Looking ten years into the future, I would envision myself working in such a practice, either independently or as part of a collective.
Indeed, after much consideration, and based on my experiences, I am convinced that CCHM’s program is one in which I will be able to thrive. Based on my personal background, experience, interests, and goals, I have arrived at this point in my development. With the benefits of a CCHM education I will be well on my way to becoming an effective, culturally-competent provider of Homeopathy and services within the San Diego community. Having gained a strong foundation of knowledge and clinical experience, I am now ready to become an “expert” and, after that, a dedicated professional in the field of Homeopathy.
