I have a beautiful 16 year old cat named Bear-Bear. she is fun, frisky, happy, healthy and popular!
A few nights ago Bear-Bear suddenly changed. She threw up her dinner and ran off to hide under a chair. I thought she was just reacting to the hot day. She has occassionaly thrown up in the past but always rebounded quickly - really quickly. In fact, Bear-Bear has never been sick for more than an hour! But this time was different.
The next morning I knew something was wrong. Bear-Bear always wake us at 4am or a little later to be fed. Cat owners know it is almost impossible to wean cats to your own schedule of when to feed them!! Much as I tried to avoid hearing her morning call - when it wasn't there I was very concerned. I found Bear-Bear hiding under the bed - something she never does. She was hot to the touch and didn't want any food or water. Nothing changed for hours. I really didn't know what to do - all my homeopathic training seemed to fly out the window...except I did give her Arsenicum Album 30C in case of food poisoning.
Then I considered.... maybe Belladonna...maybe Carbo veg (although she wasn't chilly). I really thought she was dying although deep down I felt she still had a few more years. I gave her droppers of water and then consulted a friend who is a homeopath and has lots of pets. In relaying the symptoms to her: sudden onset, hiding, hot...of course Belladonna came up. I gave her one pellet and almost instantly she ran to the litter, did her thing, threw up again and stopped hiding. Wow!
Bear-Bear is a slim cat and not eating for two days really shows on her. Her appetite still wasn't there. So I was able to syringe a little food to her and kept her hydrated with a dropper of water. She is bouncing around again, and I am so grateful to Hahnemann, homeopaths and pets!!
