I have put up a few posts regarding the homeopathic care of my pets. My friend the other day called me the "homeopathic pet whisperer" because of the quick, acute care I have beem able to provide for anything from diarrohea, to broken bones, cuts, contusions, thunderstorm fears, relocating anxiety and much more. It has become second nature to me - but I have been caring for my pets for over 7 years homeopathically and that has developed a certain skill. I freely admit that the care I give is very basic and I have had to call on more experienced homeopathic friends to help out on occassion. And, of course there are a few vet visits!
What is really interesting about homeopathic pet care - is the observation of one's animal. You start to differentiate more and more the most striking and characteristic symptoms your pet will exhibit. I didn;t realize, until homeopathy that I had one dog who tended to be very chilly while her mother tends to be much warmer. So one is always seeking the carpet, or a sunny place for napping, while the other prefers the cool floor. I am much more aware and appreciative of these kind, loving animals thanks to homeopathy!
There are a couple of books that have helped me enormously. My "go to" guide is Homeopathy for Cats and Dogs by Don Hamilton. It is excellent. And another standby is Natural Health for Dogs and Cats by Dr. Richard Pitcairn. He has a PhD in Veterinary Microbiology and is an advocate for fewer vaccinations for animals (which is a whole other topic!). Dr. Pitcairn's practice is 100% homeopathic.
