A Day in the Life of a Homeopath: Gina Newcomb, HOM

A Day in the Life of a Homeopath: Gina Newcomb, HOM

  1. What inspired you to become a homeopath?

I had such a horrible struggle with my mental and physical health all through my childhood and into my adulthood. I was in my late teens early 20’s when I realized I suffered with mental illness and the physical symptoms I was experiencing were a result of that mental illness. I tried many, many things- among them obviously, conventional treatments; drugs- which only afforded me more problems- I turned to natural remedies. Lots of herbal medicines, vitamin and mineral supplements, which did help but nothing allowed me to feel completely well and in full health… until homeopathy. Those little magic pills (well, for me it was administered in water) brought me to that beautiful, vibrant state that so many people dream of! Not only did ALL my physical complaints completely disappear (ulcerative colitis- with blood every BM and the whole bit) I was able to eat literally whatever I wanted without a single symptom return. I have also been able to get to the root of my mental illness, thus allowing me to me to really, truly heal. I have not taken that remedy for a number of years, and I still have not had a single symptom return. I was convinced!

  1. What does your average day as a homeopath look like?

Well, as a young mother to an active toddler, my days can be very scattered! I wear many hats but when I wake up with my homeopathy hat, my days tend to look like this…. I wake, feed myself, the kid and the hubby (breakfasts are usually our big family meal) then, I nestle into my little studio, I either have scheduled appointments or I spend part of the day reading homeopathic material, studying my repertory and some meditating.

  1. What do you most love about being a homeopath?

What I love about being a homeopath is the absolute assurance that I am on the right path in life. Homeopathy is so incredibly honest and it’s so easy to fall in love with because of that. Being skilled enough to apply the principles is the real challenge, but it also keeps you constantly learning and questioning.

  1. What is your favorite homeopathic story?

I’ve had some wonderful successes (yes, I’m still so surprised when a remedy works so well, haha!) and some tough conundrums- but there’s nothing I love more than converting a skeptic! My brother is a great example- yes, he is incredibly smart, and that’s why it was so delicious to clear up his horrid poison ivy with some thustox in mere hours!

  1. We don't need to know what you had for breakfast, but I'm sure it was healthy and delicious, so do tell! What did you have for breakfast?

WELL! Like I said earlier- breakfast is our big family meal, we all have hectic schedules and my husband works for himself in a creative industry so we come together in the morning. So this particular morning we enjoyed fruit salad, paleo pancakes and pastured bacon J

  1. Tell us a little about your life before you became a homeopath.

Young and searching for meaning and my place in life.

  1. How did you change your life through homeopathy?

  1. What role did CCHM play in supporting your transformation?

The passionate teachers and warm and welcome staff at CCHM create an easily approachable atmosphere. CCHM allowed me to feel competent and fall in love with homeopathy over and over again!

9 . Can you recommend a couple of good books on homeopathy? I still love the simple read of Beyond Flat Earth Medicine by Timothy Dooley. I am also really loving Something in the Water and Other Tales of Homeopathy by Sue Lanzon.
