Ghandi

The  best  way  to  find   yourself  is  to  lose  yourself  in  service  of  others.

Dhvani D., Jamnagar, India

The  best  way  to  find   yourself  is  to  lose  yourself  in  service  of  others. This  message  by  Mahatma  Gandhi   hung   on  boards  and  quoted  in  books  has  inspired  me  to  become  a  individual   serving  the  society. Doctors  are  considered  next  to  God,  say it  false  or  true  belief,  they  revive  you  from  the  deathbed.

As  I  reached  my  Higher  Secondary  Education,  I  had  to  opt  between  Biology  or  Mathematics. The  curiosity  in  subject  related  to  body  functioning  &  health  led  me  on  the  path  of  Biology;  presenting  me  a  wide  career  aspects  of  what  to  pursue  when  I  complete  my  school, and  why  among  all the  aspects  I  decided   to  study  Homeopathy  has  a  different  kind  of  journey.  Not  a  firm  decision  at  first  but  small  incidences  throughout  my  earlier  years  of   life  built  my  decision  of  becoming  a  homoeopath .

When  I  was  a  kid  about  7-8  years  old,  I  used  to  go  with  my  grandmother  to  a  homeopathic  clinic  to  cure  her  Asthma  problem.  Prior  to  treatment She  had  to  take  inhaler  twice  a  day  which  she  was  tired  of  and  wanted  to  get  rid  of.  In  the  clinic,  those  small  globules  fascinated  me,  all white  in  colour  and  sweet  in  taste.  I  didn’t  understand  much  back  then,  but post  treatment   never  till  today,  my  grandmother  has  had  the  need  for  inhaler.

As  I  grew  old,  the  liking  to  socialize  grew  up  together.  I  would  try  to  know  people,  connect  with  and  help  them  if  in  need  both  sympathetically  or  empathetically.  I  feel  that’s  the  least  anyone  can  do.

In  my  higher  secondary  years,  I  came  to  know  about  pros  and  cons  of  allopathic  medicine  and  few  a  times  my  family  switched  over  to  Ayurvedic  or  homoeopathic  help.  Ayurveda  meaning  ‘Knowledge  of  life ’ in Sanskrit  with  its  historical  roots  in  India.  But  not  everyone  is  able  to  follow  its  strict    diet,  and  with  Homeopathy,  cure  comes  along  with  neither  strict  diet  nor  palliation  of  disease.

Not  always  in  life  when  it  gives  you  lemons,  you  are  able  to  make  a lemonade.  But  there  are  few  situations  when  every  ingredient  is  optimum. Graduating 12th grade , there were two revolts going – what  I  really  need  to  do – within  me  and  discussions  about  future – with  family  and  concerned  ones.  I  wanted  to  become  a  doctor  and  through  all  possible  studies  on  different  pathies  (Allopathy,  Homeopathy,  Ayurveda, Unani  etc.)  I  firmly  resolved  to  become  a  homeopath !  Neither  the  others  are  bad  and  nor  Homeopathy  supreme, all   are  in  balance  with  their  respective  scopes  and  limitations .

I  am  a  3rd  year  BHMS  student in India and while  studying  Organon  of  Medicine,  Aphorism 1  that  says  ‘The  physician’s  high  and  only  mission  is  to  restore  the  sick  to  health,  to  cure,  as  it  is  termed.’  I  relate  it  to  the  highest  purpose  of  our  life  -  to  serve  others  in  need;  and in this case  help  health  wise.

All  of  us  are  cosmically  connected  and  I would  never  want  to  leave  a  chance  to  be  there  for  others. Complementing  this  is  my  dream  to  explore  the  world. To  go  to  new  places  and  reach  out  to  people  in  need.

I  aspire  to  become  a  better  homeopath  and  serve  the  society  and  do  good  in  this  ever  growing  world  of  ours  to  make  it  a better  place  to  live  in !

Master  Hahnemann’s  last  words  were  “I  have  not  lived  in  vain”. I  feel  this  is  how  I  will  not  live  in  vain. The  path  won’t  always  be  easy  but  homeo-path-y  will  guide  me  through  it.

I  promise  to  do  justice  to  homeopathy  and  give  my  all  to  succeed.  I  would  make  sure  anyone  leaving  after  consultation  sprinkles  smile.
